Martin Luther King: the struggle for civil rights. It runs over five minutes but is well worth the time. The footage re. what people fighting for their legitimate civil rights were put through is exceptionally good while the small clip showing Gandhi makes this video even more enriching.
“LET US RECOGNIZE THAT VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER.”
Two short – one less than two seconds long – parts of this video really hit my heart and struck a chord amidst all that bloodshed and violence portrayed in the clip re. the American Civil Rights movement during the King era.
The first is where a sort-of semi-elderly dignified black man is being pushed around by a group of crackers. I felt like crying for this poor guy (who seemed just to be going about his business before being harassed and bullied on the streets in the middle of the day) when he stooped to pick up and then dust off his fallen hat. A truly amazing gentlemen.
The second very short part which was very moving is right near the end of the video where a civil rights marcher has no shoes.
… AND NOW LET’S REALLY HEAR IT FOR THREE VERY SPECIAL MEN: NELSON MANDELA, MARTIN LUTHER KING, AND MAHATMA GANDHI.
