JuicyLesson #105: Medicinal maryjane — edibles, etc.

Edibles etc. (Part 1) — Why? What?

Check out JuicyLessons #’s 8 & 9 for a bit of background for this lesson and for tomorrow’s too.

I have a disease, Scleroderma; I was diagnosed with it in October, 2008.

This rheumatological and auto-immune illness causes your skin to tighten up – the word Scleroderma literally means ‘thick skin’ in Greek – also endangering in the process the health of internal organs like the heart and the lungs. It cost me my job.

As a result of the dangers inherent in Scleroderma, I have to undergo four different tests annually including an EKG (similar to an ultrasound), an ECG (another test for the heart, is similar to the EEG which measures brain activity), a lung function test and a chest x-ray.

It is said that if you are able to get through at least eleven years with Scleroderma, then you will probably be able to live a relatively long life. I was kind of hoping that my hands (see photo) would get a little better but that has not happened, as yet. Put it this way: with input from my educateur physique at Rehab Constance Lethbridge, I sold my almost new golf clubs last summer. Can’t play golf with hands like these. I also question my stamina in terms of my ability and strength to swing a club with at least a minimal amount of force.

One of the symptoms of Scleroderma is pain which I treat with prescription painkillers including Supeudol/Oxycodone, fentanyl patches and medicinal marijuana, and it is the medicinal weed which is the focus of today’s JuicyLesson, and of tomorrow’s too.

I plan to break up the audio-visual section of our investigation into two parts. Part 1 includes a three minute video including my commentary on the edibles and pot that I just went out and bought at MCAS. (See tomorrow’s JuicyLesson for information about the Medical Cannabis Access Society.) We will have a look at these products – the cookies, brownies, chocolates, etc. all made with “marihuana infused butter” – aka pot butter, investigate their similarities and differences, as well as describing what I like to call the “X” factor in terms of the dosage of weed contained in each item.

We will begin tomorrow’s video by taking a look at the terms “Indica” and “Sativa”. I will also give a short summary of the differences between THC and CBD (see Lesson #9 for more info re. THC and CBD, with the former, THC being more psychoactive than the latter which has more of a medicinal value) and the relationship between these two components on the one hand and Indica and Sativa on the other. I don’t know what other twists and turns tomorrow’s video essay will take but one thing sure. You’ll come away from it more informed about med pot than you were going in. Guaranteed.

See you then

Peace out.

I really like what you’ve acquired here, certainly like what you are stating and the way in which you say it.

You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it wise.
I can not wait to read far more from you.

Tthanks for your kind words. The website is available either through my FB page or via http://www.ajuicylessonperday.net. Unfortunately, or fortunately – depending on your point of view –
I finished a year’s worth of JuicyLessons on September 9th last. Therefore, feel free to browse the website but don’t expect anything new.
